"Brian Sandoval stepped off the federal bench and waltzed through a campaign into the governor's mansion. Now he must take the lead in a difficult tango through the worst budget crisis the state has ever faced.

A day after his 12-point victory over Democrat Rory Reid in a campaign that never seemed to test him, Sandoval said he has reached out to legislative and congressional leaders, and began assembling his transition team and executive staff.

'There are a lot of challenges ahead,' he said Wednesday. 'I've been on the phone all morning. I'm going to work together with both parties across the aisle.'"

Sandoval, along with Suzanna Martinez of New Mexico and Marco Rubio of Florida are all Hispanic Republicans and Conservatives.

Imam Lied, People Died

Listening to the post-Imus show on WABC-NYC and one of the guests is endlessly pointing out that the people of Afghanistan are largely illiterate. From what I understand, this is accurate.  He continues to inform anybody who calls in, and everybody in the studio, that the mob in front of the NATO base, where one person was shot dead while protesting, is the fault of a Gainsville, FL Preacher who had the notion that he was going to burn a few Qurans.

What I really do not understand in his argument is how, if they are illiterate, they found out about this stunt in Florida that hasn't even happened yet?  Sounds to me like someone in Afghanistan is trying to cause trouble.

Janet Lovett is suing the city of Tavares, Florida, after she was arrested outside a city-owned water park. Tavares and her husband took their 7-year-old son to the park, but when water splashed on her T-shirt making her bra visible, a city employee told her to she was not dressed appropriately and would have to change into a bathing suit. When she left, a police officer demanded her name. According to the officer's report, Lovett did not answer fast enough, so she was arrested for suspicion of obstructing justice and resisting arrest. Prosecutors later dropped the charges.

Typical journalistic slight-of-type, this bit of information was missing from the AOL article and not uncovered by Reason:

It's not clear why authorities were called, but park employees told police it was the third time in recent days that Lovett was asked to leave the park because of a wet T-shirt. via the Orlando Sentinel

Note: The city name is Tavares and it does not have a husband. Maybe Lovett does not look ethnic enough for news writers.

We have water park employees, charged with keeping the place tolerable for all when the occasional errant patron won't behave appropriately. A frequent flouter of the park standards. A cop showing up new to the situation and the woman who caused all the fuss refusing to identify herself the first time she is asked her name. Now, she is all lawyered up and we are supposed to think she is a victim?

My first question is, what the hell is the city running a water park for to begin with? If there were such a demand for that sort of thing there would be some private concern running one and making a profit.

Baby Gibbon Makes Debut At Disney

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Guests visiting the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom are checking out the latest addition to the park’s family.

An endangered white-cheeked gibbon was born on Feb. 2.

The yet-to-be named male and his mother, Melaka, are bonding well, according to the animal experts who oversee the daily care of the primates.

Guests can see them and the baby’s two sisters, Suki and Tuyen, in their habitat near Kali River Rapids.
