"Anything you browse can and will be used against you. An investigation of ousted HP CEO Mark Hurd's surfing history reportedly convinced the HP Board that Hurd had had a personal relationship with sexual harassment accuser Jodie Fisher, even if not sexual. Just the latest example of how HP 'work[s] together to create a culture of inclusion built on trust, respect and dignity for all.' The WSJ reported a person close to the investigation said Hurd had looked at clips from racy films featuring Ms. Fisher, a former actress, while someone 'familiar with Mr. Hurd's thinking' said he merely did a Google search of 10 minutes or so. One wonders how many more 'personal relationships' with Ms. Fisher the browser histories of HP's 304,000 worldwide employees might reveal. BTW, nice to see that Hurd has made it to HP's ex-CEO-Hall-of-Fame page."

Sunday services at one Ohio church have had an unusual feature lately: strippers frolicking in front of the building. Fed up with protests by the New Beginnings Ministries community, which employs tactics like filming clubgoers' license plates and posting them online, employees of the Foxhole have begun traveling 7 miles to the church on Sundays to mount a counterprotest. 'When these morons go away, we'll go away,' the club owner tells the Columbus Dispatch.

Like the club protesters, the church protesters yesterday came armed with signs, including one that read: 'Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing.' 'These church people say horrible things about us,' said a bikini-clad dancer and mother of six. 'The fact of the matter is, we're working to keep our own homes together, to give our kids what they need.' Said the pastor of his congregants: 'They have now seen the evil firsthand.'

Director Oliver Stone belittled the Holocaust during a shocking interview (caution, pay-wall) with the Sunday Times today, claiming that America's focus on the Jewish massacre was a product of the "Jewish domination of the media."

The director also defended Hitler and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and railed against the "powerful lobby" of Jews in America.

DOE Reinvades Showerhead Use

Take me back to Seinfeld, the Department of Energy is invading our bathrooms again. Story at the link, Seinfeld below.

Of the many microscopic issues in which the Department of Energy (DOE) involves itself, one of the most ridiculous could be showerhead flow-capacity limits. In the name of conservation, a federal law limits the amount of water that can pass through a nozzle to 2.5 gallons per minute. The law was designed to limit both water and energy use related to pumping the water.

Until recently, a loophole that allowed multi-nozzled showerheads (with each individual nozzle meeting the flow-capacity limit) put this personal choice where it belongs: in the hands of consumers. Showerheads with three or even eight nozzles could be purchased by homebuilders to equip luxury bathrooms as long as the per-nozzle water-flow limit was followed. Regrettably, the DOE decided that alternatives to the standard showerhead could no longer be allowed and, in May, sought to close the legal gap. A redefinition of showerheads is expected.

An example of another loophole that could be exploited by crafty citizens as a non-violent act of defiance.
