New Mexico Imam Off YouTube

Imam Anwar al-Awlaki, spiritual leader to numerous terrorists.

YouTube Pulls Hundreds Of Videos By Al Qaida Cleric

After pressure from British and American officials YouTube says it has taken down the videos of the Al Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Awlaki was born and raised in America, but now lives in Yemen. He is believed to be linked to the recent package bombs, the Ft. Hood shootings, the Christmas day "underwear bomber," and the plot to detonate a car bomb in Times Square. The New York Times quotes YouTube spokeswoman Victoria Grand.
Ms. Grand said that Google, YouTube’s owner, sought to balance freedom of expression with averting calls to violence. “These are difficult issues,” she wrote, “and material that is brought to our attention is reviewed carefully. We will continue to remove all content that incites violence according to our policies. Material of a purely religious nature will remain on the site.”
Awlaki has hundreds of videos on the site. Videos that British authorities say have already resulted in people turning to violence, including one young woman who stabbed a member of parliament.
Scotland Yard detectives who investigated the attack on the legislator said outside the court that 21-year-old Roshonara Choudhury, a theology student, watched YouTube videos that showed sequences from sermons by Mr. Awlaki in Yemen in which the preacher urged Muslims everywhere to join in a worldwide holy war against the West. In a transcript of her interrogation published by The Guardian, she spoke of watching hundreds of hours of his videos. She said her motive was to “punish” the legislator, Stephen Timms, for voting in 2003 for Britain’s participation in the invasion of Iraq.
Palestinian-American Major Hasan
One of the things that worries authorities the most is people like Ms. Choudhury or Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter. They're what they call "lone wolf" terrorists. They aren't part of any organized group, but they get radicalized over the internet and then lash out. Because they are plotting alone it is much harder to stop them.
That is utter, total bullshit about Hasan and others acting as "lone wolves".  They were coordinated by Awlaki and his network, aided in the USA by terrorist sympathizers along with their useful idiot friends.

Saudis seeking bomb maker. Yemen arrests parcel bomb suspect, met with mass taqiyya

Saudis looking for Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri (ابراهيم حسن العسيري) in Chicago Synagogue bombing plot.

From Brenda Daverin at Gather.com
Interestingly, one of the synagogues the Yemen plot bombs may have been addressed to was Or Chadash, a congregation devoted to welcoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons. Or Chadash's Sabbath services were held with full security and without incident, according to CNN. It will be fascinating to find out if the Yemen plotters knew Or Chadash was LGBT-friendly or if they just picked them at random out of a phone book.

FT.com / Middle East - Yemen arrests parcel bomb suspect:
"Yemeni security forces have arrested a female student for allegedly sending the explosive packages destined for the US.

The woman was arrested on Saturday in Sana’a the capital after bombs were discovered hidden in air freight packages in Britain and Dubai. The packages were on board planes that had departed from Yemen. They were addressed to synagogues in Chicago and officials have said the explosive devices bore the hallmarks of al-Qaeda.

The detained woman was traced through a telephone number she allegedly left with a cargo company, officials said. She may not have known that the packages contained explosives. US officials have said that Saudi Arabia, which shares a long porous border with Yemen, provided information on the threat."

Oct. 30: An unidentified Yemeni woman walks past UPS office in San'a, Yemen.

After word got out that a woman was being questioned, the villagers gathered sticks and signs for a massive taqiyya festival.  If her friend said she was set-up then she was set-up, right?  Case closed, move along. (yea, right)
"The Sanaa University student union ... believes the girl is innocent and has been wronged," said union president, Ridhwan Massoud, 30.
"We are calling for her release," he said.
Dozens of students staged a sit-in in the courtyard of Sanaa University's engineering faculty. Yemeni officials had said the woman was studying medicine, but students at the university said she was in her final year of a computer science degree.
Yahya al-Hammadi, a 21-year-old engineering student, told Reuters she had attended the faculty until the previous day.
"She was not known to be active in anything, not politics nor religion," Hammadi said. "I am totally perplexed by this."

Obama Jabs Republicans in Appeal for Bi-Partisanship Plus Terrorist News

President B. Hussein Obama looks at a rifle in satirical photo.
Me wonders if his teleprompter was working.
Obama appeals for postelection common ground:
"'The Republican leader of the House actually said that 'this is not the time for compromise,'' Obama said Saturday in his weekly radio and Internet address. 'And the Republican leader of the Senate said his main goal after this election is simply to win the next one.'"

This morning's Wall Street Journal article on yesterday's attempted terror attacks is very informative.

Authorities intercepted two U.S.-bound packages laden with what appeared to be explosives in cargo shipments from Yemen, raising alarms in the U.S. and Europe and prompting the military to escort one passenger plane landing in New York.

Dubai police said Saturday that one explosive device, found on a FedEx Corp. cargo plane, bore the hallmarks of a global terrorist group like al Qaeda.

"The plot style carries features similar to previous attacks carried out by terrorist organizations like al Qaeda," the Dubai Police said in a statement, adding that they had disposed of the explosive device.
***
Mr. Obama said the two packages intercepted overnight were addressed to two synagogues in Chicago. He didn't name the synagogues.

Rabbi Michael Zedek of Emanuel Congregation in Chicago was notified of the threat by the synagogue's security person, an off-duty police officer. He said he wasn't surprised. "It was, 'Oh, OK. Thank you for the warning,' " Rabbi Zedek recalled thinking.
One of the devices, disguised as a toner cartridge and discovered in England, was first reported as free of explosive material.  That was changed to a device that contained all the parts for a bomb and non-operational.

Authorities Investigating Cargo Flights in NJ, Pa. - ABC News

New update: USA Fighter jets escorting a commercial jet from Canada to New York's LaGuardia airport.  Maybe unrelated: the Jewish Federation in Chicago is on heightened alert for suspicious packages. Some of the packages from Yemen are reported to be addressed to Chicago Synagogues.

New update: some packages contained explosive material according to Obama's teleprompter.

Suspected bombs on cargo planes and trucks.
Authorities Investigating Cargo Flights in NJ, Pa. - ABC News:
"Philadelphia International Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says Philadelphia police and other agencies are with a plane at a remote part of that airport. Video from the airport shows emergency vehicles around a UPS jet.

A spokeswoman for United Parcel Service Inc. did not immediately know what prompted authorities to search the flight at Philadelphia. The company says it is working closely with authorities."
Radio reports added that there were other bombs were unloaded onto UPS and distributed by trucks.  There was something about a possible bomb investigation in a New York bank.  Suspect devices were also found in London. They originated in Yemen.  Yemen is the new home of New Mexico born imam Anwar al-Awlaki, career advisor to Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

Update: false alarm, or as my FaceBook Friend Bob Jackson says, "test runs."

This reminds me of the pre-election bombings in Spain just six years ago.  I will admit, I thought some of my friends were grasping at straws connecting radical Islamic magazines to the recent shootings and other dangerous events.  Now, I am paying a lot more attention.

Washington, DC: Featured City in 'Inspire' Magazine, followed by Bar Attack

Washington, DC is again in the spotlight as a "must hit" destination in yet another publication, Inspire, the glossy face of the Al Qaeda network.  The fall edition also features 'inspirational' words from US Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan's personal imam, New Mexico's very own Anwar al-Awlaki.

Terror threat to restaurants as Al Qaeda calls for attacks on government workers in D.C.:
"WASHINGTON - The terror group tied to the Ft. Hood killings and the Christmas Day undies airbomber urge wannabe American jihadis to open fire on crowded restaurants in the nation's capital to massacre U.S. government workers.

The advice appears in 'Inspire,' the latest issue of a slick propaganda publication by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Osama Bin Laden's franchise in Yemen.

'A random hit at a crowded restaurant in Washington, D.C., at lunch hour might end up knocking out a few government employees,' Yahya Ibrahim writes in the 74-page jihadi how-to magazine.

'Targeting such employees is paramount and the location would also give the operation additional media attention,' Ibrahim added."

Following the fanfare of the Islamic answer to Mother Jones, Tap and the Anarchist's Cookbook, all rolled into one, Ali Ahmed Mohammed decided to make some news of his own by throwing a brick through the window of DC9, a nightclub in Northwest Washington, DC after being denied entry when a concert was ending.

Nightclub owner, 4 others charged in beating

WASHINGTON (AP) — A nightclub owner and four employees have been charged with beating a man to death after he threw a brick through the club's window, in a case of what D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier called "vigilante justice."

Ali Ahmed Mohammed, 27, of Silver Spring, Md., was denied entry to the DC9 nightclub along the U Street corridor around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Lanier said, but he returned to throw a brick through the window.

That's when the club owner and four employees chased Mohammed down the block, then tackled and beat him, police said. When officers arrived, all five men were still on the scene and Mohammed was in critical condition, Lanier said. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
*****
DC9 manager KT Robeson told TBD that he saw the men chase Mohammed and subdue him, but not in a violent way.
"Who beats someone up and then calls the cops?" Robeson asked. "That's ridiculous."
Other representatives of the club declined further comment.
NBC affiliate coverage broadcast a relative of the 27 year old Silver Spring, Maryland man asking why someone his age had to die.  I will ask, why does someone his age throw bricks through windows of nightclubs?  He was reported to be a Howard University student.  No major media source has made a connection between Inspire magazine and Ali Ahmed Mohammed, nor have they mentioned his religious leanings.

The DC Chief of Police called the incident "vigilante justice".

Another Dick in the News: Christmas Bombing Try Is Hailed by bin Laden

From the NYT:

Christmas Bombing Try Is Hailed by bin Laden

WASHINGTON — Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, spoke publicly for the first time about the botched Christmas Day airliner bombing, praising the attempt — but not explicitly taking responsibility for it — in an audiotape broadcast Sunday that was aimed personally at President Obama.
An audiotape boradcast does not check the "spoke pubicly" block for me.  Any word from Fort Hood terrorist/murderer MAJ Hasan?  Same words, perhaps.

Mr. bin Laden said that the bombing attempt was a heroic act meant to recall the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York and Washington. He warned that more strikes against the United States were looming because of American support for what he called Israel’s repression of the Palestinians, one of Mr. bin Laden’s recurring themes in his occasional audiotaped anti-West invectives.
Sounds like it was written by Hasan.  Plus, bin Laden has a US President that one would think he would love.  Obama seems to want Israelis to willingly march into the sea.  Maybe not announcing that he wants them all shot is a step too short for bin Laden, so he addressed this tape to Obama.

Oh, for you terrorist embracing PLO, Hamas and Hezbollah loving types.  Stop denying that you are identical to al Qaeda, you are the same.  Okay, there are a few Marxists in your ranks, but everything else is the same.  You get your funding from the same idots who think they are donating to "schools and hospitals"  (honest brokers call them armories and ammunition caches).  You attack civilians as your primary targets.  You are all terrorists and so are the ones who support you.

“America will never dream of security unless we will have it in reality in Palestine,” Mr. bin Laden said. “God willing, our raids on you will continue as long as your support to the Israelis will continue.”

Mr. bin Laden said his statement was “from Osama to Obama.”

The one-minute recording, broadcast by Al Jazeera’s Arabic news channel, was the first time Mr. bin Laden, who is believed to be hiding in Pakistan near the Afghanistan border, had issued an audiotape in four months.
White House officials said they could not immediately authenticate the recording, but did not dispute that the voice was Mr. bin Laden’s. David Axelrod, a White House senior adviser, told CNN’s “State of the Union” that whatever the source, the message “contains the same hollow justification for the mass slaughter of innocents.”

It was not clear why Mr. bin Laden waited nearly a month to say anything about the Dec. 25 bombing attempt on Northwest Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit, which was carried out by a passenger who sought to detonate explosives sewn into his underwear but was overpowered by other passengers. Federal investigators have said the suspect, a 23-year-old Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, received training and the explosives in Yemen.

“The message delivered to you through the plane of the heroic warrior Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was a confirmation of the previous messages sent by the heroes” of Sept. 11, Mr. bin Laden said.
More at the link above, to include a blurb for an al Qaeda expert quoted by the Times saying bin Laden is not claiming responsibility, he is just praising the December bombing attempt.

Other reports across the internet and on the air report the tape as a claim of responsibility.

Amy Alkon covers this too.

The Female Terrorists Robert Steele has been Warning of

Open Source Security advocate, Robert Steele has been trying to warn people for years about various Middle-eastern bad-players recruiting and training women for all sorts of things against the West.  From intelligence gathering to actual attacks.  So, this does not really come as a surprise:

ABC: Female bombers may target US

Al-Qaeda training female suicide bombers who may not look Arab, carry Western passport ABC says

WASHINGTON - Al-Qaeda is training female suicide bombers in Yemen, including at least two who do not look Arab and carry Western passports, ABC reported.
According the report, the current threat is tangible but the female bombers have not yet been sent on their suicide missions.

Former White House counter-terrorism official Richard Clarke reported that al-Qaeda trains the female terrorists in Yemen. American officials have said that a recent US air strike on the terror network's training camp in the country killed many would-be suicide bombers but not all of them.
According to Clarke, many of the terror activists training at the camp have light skinned and may not look Arab.
I do object to the phrasing "look Arabic," more to the idea that there is just one look.  I've run into enough Arabic people who "look Western" to know these phrases are meaningless.

Meanwhile in Iraq:

Iraqi Forces Arrest Suspected Terrorists

In northwest Baghdad, Iraqi security forces and U.S. advisors searched a residential building for a suspected female terrorist who is believed to be actively recruiting female suicide bombers for use in high-profile attacks against government officials and civilians.

The Iraqi forces identified and arrested the alleged terrorist and another suspect without incident.

During a second operation in Esaiwid, northeast of Baghdad, Iraqi security forces and U.S. advisors searched for a member of a Kirkuk-based improvised explosive device cell. The man also is suspected of aiding terrorist leaders.

Isreal has been dealing with those for quite a few years too.

U.S. Embassy in Yemen reopens

U.S. Embassy in Yemen reopens

Reporting from Beirut - Washington reopened its diplomatic outpost in Yemen today after shuttering it for two days because of "credible information that pointed to imminent terrorist attacks," said a statement posted by the U.S. Embassy website in Sana, the capital.

The U.S., Japan and several European nations shut their embassies this week amid worries about rising Al Qaeda activity on the troubled Arabian Peninsula. Western intelligence and counterterrorism officials have put a spotlight on Yemen after the suspect in the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a Northwest Airlines flight asserted that he was handed his instructions by a cleric in Yemen.
U.S. officials said they reopened the embassy today because a Yemeni counterterrorism operation on Monday "addressed a specific area of concern."
