That Gay Navy Video

Darn that Virginia Pilot, blurring out the faces of these fine amateur actors and actresses!  As Rush Limbaugh just said on his show, if Captain Honor Owens would have just claimed to be gay, this would not be a story any more.  This was the longest version I found.

If you missed the girl-on-girl shower scene, it was something like this but not as pretty.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Care

Many other countries allow LGBT to serve openly.
Don't Ask, Don't Tell Pentagon study shows 70% think gays in military is harmless | Mail Online:
"A Pentagon study released today will show that the majority of soldiers don't care if their comrades are gay or straight.

The survey conducted to investigate the effect of repealing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy in the military has found that most people believe it would cause no harm.

The findings is expected to re-ignite the debate this month on Capitol Hill over the 17-year-old policy which restricted homosexuals from openly serving."

Servant 'let Saudi prince kill him' - The Irish Times - Mon, Oct 18, 2010

Servant 'let Saudi prince kill him' - The Irish Times - Mon, Oct 18, 2010:
"A servant allegedly beaten and strangled by a Saudi prince died without even putting up a fight, a court heard today.

Bandar Abdulaziz (32) was so worn down by the “sadistic” abuse he had suffered that he “let the defendant kill him”, jurors were told.

Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud is accused of murdering Mr Abdulaziz in February at the central London hotel room they shared.

Jonathan Laidlaw QC, prosecuting, said they had a “master-servant” relationship in which the prince abused his aide for his “own personal gratification”.

Mr Laidlaw said the victim’s injuries showed the assault leading to his murder “was a really terrible, a really brutal attack”.

He added: “So worn down by the violence, so subservient and submissive had Bandar become that he was incapable of any effective resistance.

“He was killed without apparently ever having fought back because the defendant was completely unharmed, without any mark at all, when he was examined at the police station. Bandar appears to have let the defendant kill him.”"
Also, Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud denies homosexual affair with victim.

Bishop Eddie Long | Powerful pastor’s ministry put to test | Plus his response, audio

Bishop Eddie Long | Powerful pastor’s ministry put to test | ajc.com (read more):
"Four men — Anthony Flagg, 21; Maurice Robinson, 20; Jamal Parris, 23; and Spencer LeGrande, 22 — filed lawsuits in DeKalb civil court last week accusing the 57-year-old minister of lavishing gifts and money on them in exchange for sexual favors.

For church members, the suits were like waves — two were filed on Tuesday, another on Wednesday, a fourth on Friday — each threatening to erode the foundations of the largest church in Georgia.

Flagg, Robinson and Parris say the relationships began when they were teens, “spiritual sons” in a church ministry called LongFellows Youth Academy.

LeGrande’s suit said his relationship with Long began after the New Birth pastor met him at the first service held at a satellite church in Charlotte and continued for two years after LeGrande moved to Atlanta."
He is going to be on From the pulpit today:

Maryland Gays and Lesbians visit DC to Rumble

6 Arrested in Gang Attack Near Metro Station

By Lena H. Sun
Washington Post Staff Writer

Friday, June 15, 2007
Metro transit police have arrested six teenagers in connection with the stabbing and assault of another teen during a gang-related fight last month near the Addison Road station in Prince George's County.
The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was waiting at the bus shelter area on the night of May 19 after an earlier fight with members of a rival gang, officials said. He told investigators that he was attacked by six members of the rival gang, including a woman who allegedly stabbed him four times and another person who hit him in the head with a stiletto heel.
Metro officials said the fight was between two gay and lesbian gangs that operate in Maryland.
In my books, crime is much greater in DC and Maryland than in Virginia.

Is the most eligible bachelor in Crystal City gay?

Holy crap! I am listening to Roe & Roper on WLS-890AM and they are covering this (only nine of the fifteen): Is My Husband GAY? As a service to our readers, I shall post my honest responses to their questions and you can go back and forth to score as you will.

1) Secretive late night use of cellphones and computers
Yea! I am not secretive at all about my late-night computer use and you, the readers, are usually reading what I wrote late at night with an accompanying timestamp.

2) Looks at other men in a flirtatious way
Creepy, no way. At least if I know it is a guy.  My favorite sports pub is right down the block from a drag bar, so you can't blame me for what walks by on their way to karaoke.  Still creeps me out when men look at me like that.  Much less now that I grew this gray hair, beer gut and bald spot.
3) Feigning attention in church and prayer groups
Are you fucking kidding me?  the only way I am ever in a Church is when some chick invites me.

4) Overly fastidious about his appearance and the home
Unless waiting until the last possible moment to shower (sometimes) before leaving my secret, undisclosed lair, then no.  Does cleaning at all count as fastidious?  I only clean when I know a date is coming home with me.

5) Gym membership but no interest in sports
Funny! There is a gym in my building I never use. Same with the last four buildings I have lived in.  My cheapness rule prevents me from purchasing a gym membership when I am already paying for a gym that I don't use.  NASCAR is my main sport, followed by other motorsports.  Their answer at the link is pretty gross too.  Another reason not to buy a gym membership, or wait until you get home for your shower.

6) Clothes that are too tight and too “trendy”
They get too tight when I gain weight.  However, when I buy new clothes nobody accuses me of being trendy.  When pinstriped button downs, khakis and cowboy boots become trendy then I may be guilty of this one.

7) Strange sexual demands
Nothing strange at all about leather cuffs, spike heels, collars and gags on her.  Next question!

8) More interested in the men than the women in pornographic films
I don't like men in my porn at all. Next question!

9) Travels frequently to big cities or Asia
Haven't yet and I prefer my Asian women Americanized, just like my killer bees.

10) Too many friendly young male friends
I don't like the young in general and young males who are stupid enough to get friendly with me are usually drunk enough to get thrown out of the bar at my request to the manager.

11) Sassy, sarcastic and ironic around his friends
The article includes speaking with one's hands in this one. GUILTY! Look at my name for the genetic clue.

12) Love of pop culture
Unless it is a Rihanna, Beyoncé or other hot chick video, no.

13) Extroverted about his bare chest in public
HAHA! My chest looks a lot better shirted than bare these days.  So does my waist.

14) Sudden heavy drinking
That is not sudden. I have been doing it for years and am pretty good at it now.

15) Ladies, have you dated men in the past who turned out to be gay?
The ladies reading can answer that for themselves and I welcome your responses in the comments.  A woman or two from my past has said they dated guys who they later suspected of being gay, but no outright confessions of that.

There you have it! Straight and kinky, so go buy my books.  How about a little clean my kitchen and make dinner after you stop by the grocery store?

Proposition 8 backers ask for permanent hold on gay marriage ruling - latimes.com

Update here, 8/17/2010. Hold is on until around December.

Proposition 8 backers ask for permanent hold on gay marriage ruling - latimes.com:
In an emergency appeal now before a federal court, the backers of Proposition 8 have asked for a permanent hold on last week's 'egregiously selective and one-sided' marriage ruling, contending it flouted the law and ignored the evidence.

The request to prevent the resumption of same-sex marriages in California next week is being considered by a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Two of the judges were appointed by Democrats, the other by a Republican. The panel has ordered all arguments to be filed by Monday.
Series tie-in: Same sex marriage is legal and becoming more common in the future. Same sex romances are common even if they do not result in marriage. In the Suki With A Twist series, Patricia and Samantha are a married couple.

Imagine a future where paid companionship is legal.

Imagine a future where recreational drug use is legal.

Imagine a future where people negotiate their own pay rates for any way they wish to sell their talents and services.

Imagine a future where bill collectors are feared more than the government.

Now imagine the characters from the first Suki Adult Romance Series living in that world. Not quite a Libertarian Utopia, not quite a dystopia either.

Welcome to Suki's new world. Is it real, or is it just a dream?

Suki With A Twist - Part One Synopsis

Suki With A Twist: Part One is an Urban Fantasy Romance, with a hint of Science Fiction set in the early 2030’s Northern Virginia. Both the laws and society have evolved in a more open and libertarian direction than what we are used to today. Recreational drug use and prostitution are open, common, and legal.

The story opens with lavish office party. Jung, is president of the party planning firm and is watching over the operation. China, a beautiful young Asian woman and a Vice-President of the planning firm for the party, is on a date with Dennis Bohannon, the chief partner of the law firm throwing the party and stays obediently at his side.

The true nature of the date becomes apparent in the Presidential Suite of the Ritz. China is a paid date for the boss, commanding the highest rates on the East Coast. Her mother's business is the most expensive full-service firm. The story continues with a detailed view of the night through China's eyes to the next morning, in the “safe suite” where all of the overnight workers change back to their regular look, and we discover that China is the professional name for the main character, Suki.

Suki is troubled, at the age of twenty-four she has never been in a true romantic relationship and that is the root of her problem. She has only worked for her mother, she spends money wildly and she is beginning to hate her job. Through the next chapters the main characters are introduced. Jung has an active, erotic, social life and a hands-on business approach. One of her “pets” is a man that she has visited weekly for several years as his Domme, but he is normally sexually Dominant with others. Patricia and Samantha, a polyamorous married couple, are well known in local Domination & submission social circles, and they try to help Suki straighten herself out. Both have senior professional positions and they also moonlight for Jung's party business as companions like Suki, but only to pay off their house.

Jung knows someone who might be good for her daughter and sets the wheels in motion for them to meet. One little problem, John is a man that Jung has had ongoing Domination encounters with for years. Suki guesses this and agrees to meet him anyway without telling him that she is Jung’s daughter.

John and Suki hit it off immediately, right down to their mutual sexual deviations, and they discover Suki has a natural talent for modeling when John has her stand-in as his car model at an auction on their date to San Francisco. Suki has an opportunity at a new career and relationship, better than a dream, but it also creates severe problems when she returns to Virginia.

Soon-to-be published Suki With A Twist: Part Two begins just after Part One ends, with Samantha and Suki preparing to work a small private party.

New at Reason: Steve Chapman on the Gay Marriage Debate - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

New at Reason: Steve Chapman on the Gay Marriage Debate - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

Why would the socially conservative National Organization for Marriage hold an anti-gay marriage rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where the group was sure of being badly outnumbered by motivated and well-organized critics? Maybe, writes Steve Chapman, because that's what the group wanted. The rally managed to make opponents of gay marriage look like a brave, embattled minority, even though they constitute 53 percent of the public and have gotten their way in all but a few states.

Same Sex Marriage still banned in California, sort of

From the Washington Post:
Calif. Ruling Shows Hurdles Remain for Gay Marriage
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, May 27, 2009

The California Supreme Court upheld a voter-approved constitutional amendment Tuesday that bans same-sex marriage in the state.

The court said, however, that those couples who wed in the state under an earlier opinion from the court, will be considered married.

Now, if they would just get rid of heterosexual marriage maybe we will be approaching equality.

Some interesting comments from the Reasonids:

♪ May 26, 2009, 1:45pm #

There was actually a brief filed at the time after the first ballot proposal was overturned that would have put a halt on marring same-sex couples until the second ballot proposal was voted on. This would have been prudent in a time when the question was in flux.

Also, "gay marriage" is a misnomer. Nobody asks for sexual preference when filling out a marriage license.

ellipsis May 26, 2009, 5:47pm #

The Hef seems to be able to find multiple girlfriends. What if he wanted to marry all of them? The only thing that would change is the (now) wives ability to get tax deductions and estate matters.

Marriage used to be a license to have sex. That's why polygamy was banned, because the LDS was considered a freakshow. In modern times, marriage has nothing to do with sex. And yes I know I'm condensing, but bear with me. Polygamy wasn't even banned in the US until 1862, and only because of what amounted to religious persecution. The Merrill anti-Bigamy Act should have been overturned on first amendment grounds. But the majority is always willing to throw any odd practices under the bus for the morality of America.

I think polygamy should be legal - along with any other human marriage arrangement - but considering how hard it is to get same-sex marriage legalized, I doubt it'll happen any time soon.

Jeff May 26, 2009, 5:54pm #

Marriage is a union between one man and one woman. Anything else is NOT marriage. It may be a civil union, but it is not marriage.

I think the argument that the government should not issue marriage licenses is a valid one. Perhaps the government should issue "civil union" licenses and then if a man and woman want to get married, they may do so in whatever ceremony they wish. Then, everyone has equal rights and we don't redefine words.
For me, it's as much a logical argument as anything else. We might as well pass legislation that says day is night and night is day. That won't change the fact that the sun is visible at about the same time every day (oops, night) - we'll just change what that period of time is called.

For the record: I am against government involvement in marriage and that is one thing my fictional character of this name shares with me.

In other news, our crazy immigration policy was a factor in a friend of mine, who I used to date, getting married so that she does not have to keep going back to England for visa renewals.

I agree with Obama

This has been a big Obamafest week for me!

No line item or plan for closing the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention center.

No release of the Abu Ghraib detainee pictures.

Obama agrees with Miss America on same sex marriage (I disagree, the government should stay out of marriage IMHO).  OK, OK, for this one he agreed well in advance.

Looks like a nice, we-can-all-get-along week.
