Althouse: A case of the Vapors over calling Julian Assange a Sissy

Julian Assange — "He's a sissy; he's a waif, purely and simply an Internet creation."

That's how Rush Limbaugh talked about Julian Assange on his show yesterday. What I'm interested in here is not Assange per se or what Limbaugh thinks of him. I'm interested in the gratuitous disparagement of men whose looks and personal style fail to track the masculine stereotype:

Read it all on her blog.  The thing is, Assange is a total pansy and the stupid shit he pulls on the internet only supports that.  Things like editing video from US Army attack helicopters to make it appear as if the pilots committed atrocities.  When Limbaugh talked about Althouse's post on the air, he pointed out that he never called G. Gordon Liddy a sissy and mentioned some others.

Ann Althouse

Ann Althouse has a history of being overly sensitive.  A few years ago, the 'bruits' at Reason magazine (if you question the sarcastic quotes, go to one of their parties and see for yourself) brought her to tears, imposing on herself a level of public torture rarely seen outside of a Kubrick film.  The issue? Apparently what so offended Althouse is that anyone could possibly believe that a private business owner should be permitted to privately discriminate on the basis of race.  Her response here.

On the subject of WikiLeaks, Limbaugh mentioned this story from The Register:  WikiLeaks re-taunts feds with US Amazon mirrors

According to NetCraft's records, the whistle-blowing website is mirroring the diplomatic cables on Amazon's US-based EC2 service and France-based servers operated by French ISP Octopuce. The main WikiLeaks site is mirrored on Ireland-based Amazon servers.

WikiLeaks also uses a US-based domain name registrar (Dynadot) and a US-based DNS service (EveryDNS).

See Amazon's EC2 site for more details.  Rush observed, as I have, that if this wuss has all of his classified documents hosted and mirrored by Amazon, the government could take the domain away with a few keystrokes.  Rush said it better, "if only WikiLeaks had pirated songs, Obama would shut them down overnight" (not an exact quote).  That is the truth too.  If this administration gave one hoot about classified military information, Assange would already be behind bars or worse.

The Obama regime only sounded alarmed after State Department memos were released by WikiLeaks, with the 'monumental, damaging revelation' that US diplomats were "spying" on their UN counterparts.  Don't believe me?  Electron-slinging, Leftist leader, David Corn wants Hillary Clinton to resign over this issue.  Foror failing to protect national secrets,?  Nope.  For spying on UN diplomats.  The extent of the "spying" so far appears to be observing what they do.  Not even sexy enough to get into one of my novels!

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #52,283 (as of this posting)

A fan fiction work by Sarah, based on a scene from Suki IV: Finally a Vacation and inspired by the Jerusalem Post news story I Wed Iranian Girls before Execution.

John and Suki are kidnapped from an exotic dance club by John's friend Mike and his girlfriend, Honey. The couple is held captive and forced to reveal how they helped the Allies in the war with Iran. They do not break easily, but the techniques used are fast and effective.

Mike and Honey have other uses for the couple too. Suki's natural anger toward any women who approach John is exploited for other uses and profit. So is the natural beauty and sexual experience of the couple, but the important thing they have is their minds that need to be harnessed for their captor's customers, Iran and Russia.

Description

Imagine a future where paid companionship is legal.

Imagine a future where recreational drug use is legal.

Imagine a future where people negotiate their own pay rates for any way they wish to sell their talents and services.

Imagine a future where bill collectors are feared more than the government.

Now imagine the characters from the first Suki Adult Romance Series living in that world. Not quite a Libertarian Utopia, not quite a dystopia either.

Welcome to Suki's new world. Is it real, or is it just a dream?

Suki With A Twist - Part One Synopsis

Suki With A Twist: Part One is an Urban Fantasy Romance, with a hint of Science Fiction set in the early 2030’s Northern Virginia. Both the laws and society have evolved in a more open and libertarian direction than what we are used to today. Recreational drug use and prostitution are open, common, and legal.

The story opens with lavish office party. Jung, is president of the party planning firm and is watching over the operation. China, a beautiful young Asian woman and a Vice-President of the planning firm for the party, is on a date with Dennis Bohannon, the chief partner of the law firm throwing the party and stays obediently at his side.

The true nature of the date becomes apparent in the Presidential Suite of the Ritz. China is a paid date for the boss, commanding the highest rates on the East Coast. Her mother's business is the most expensive full-service firm. The story continues with a detailed view of the night through China's eyes to the next morning, in the “safe suite” where all of the overnight workers change back to their regular look, and we discover that China is the professional name for the main character, Suki.

Suki is troubled, at the age of twenty-four she has never been in a true romantic relationship and that is the root of her problem. She has only worked for her mother, she spends money wildly and she is beginning to hate her job. Through the next chapters the main characters are introduced. Jung has an active, erotic, social life and a hands-on business approach. One of her “pets” is a man that she has visited weekly for several years as his Domme, but he is normally sexually Dominant with others. Patricia and Samantha, a polyamorous married couple, are well known in local Domination & submission social circles, and they try to help Suki straighten herself out. Both have senior professional positions and they also moonlight for Jung's party business as companions like Suki, but only to pay off their house.

Jung knows someone who might be good for her daughter and sets the wheels in motion for them to meet. One little problem, John is a man that Jung has had ongoing Domination encounters with for years. Suki guesses this and agrees to meet him anyway without telling him that she is Jung’s daughter.

John and Suki hit it off immediately, right down to their mutual sexual deviations, and they discover Suki has a natural talent for modeling when John has her stand-in as his car model at an auction on their date to San Francisco. Suki has an opportunity at a new career and relationship, better than a dream, but it also creates severe problems when she returns to Virginia.

Soon-to-be published Suki With A Twist: Part Two begins just after Part One ends, with Samantha and Suki preparing to work a small private party.

If you have published Kindle books

Anybody who has Kindle books out there, Amazon just made a few changes. Posting their email first and I will fill you in on what I did.

Hello from Amazon DTP,

We are pleased to announce the new Kindle store on amazon.co.uk. As a DTP publisher, if you have the publishing rights in the United Kingdom (including Guernsey, Isle of Man, and Jersey) you can now sell your ebooks from www.amazon.co.uk . This is great news for our DTP Publishers and our UK customers, who are now able to purchase content in GBP. If you have a US bank account configured in DTP, you will receive payment on sales in the UK store in USD. If you have selected to be paid by check, you will be paid in GBP.

We, Amazon EU S.à.r.l., will be the Amazon affiliate distributing your ebooks for sale through the UK store and are now a party to the Digital Text Platform Terms and Conditions. If you hold publishing rights in the United Kingdom for the ebooks you have listed for sale in the Amazon.com Kindle Store, you are all set!

If you have checked the Amazon.co.uk Kindle Store and do not see your titles for sale in the UK store, then please take care to ensure you have managed your publishing rights by territory:

1. Log into your DTP account at http://dtp.amazon.com.

2. In your Bookshelf, for the title you wish to update, click on Actions and select “Edit rights, royalty, and pricing.”

3. Select “Worldwide Rights – all territories” if you hold the global publishing rights for this title. Or, select “Individual Territories – select territories” if you hold the publishing rights in some, but not all UK territories (United Kingdom, Guernsey, Isle of Man, and/or Jersey).

5. Select whether you want your USD price converted to GBP, or whether you would like to set your own amount in GBP.

6. Reconfirm by checking the box that you have all rights necessary to make the content you are uploading available for marketing, distribution and sale in each territory indicated above, and that you accept DTP Terms and Conditions.

If you do not have publishing rights for your titles in the UK or for other reasons cannot sell your titles in the Amazon.co.uk Kindle Store, you must ensure you have not checked any of the following: United Kingdom, Guernsey, Isle of Man, and/or Jersey.

For more information on confirming your rights by territory, please see our Help Page at the following link: http://forums.digitaltextplatform.com/dtpforums/entry!default.jspa?externalID=492.

Thank you for publishing with DTP!
Sincerely,
Amazon DTP Team

Step 2 is a little off. You are going to edit book details and read through everything. Make sure DRM is set for what you want for your book, and make sure all the other choices are correct.

When you accept the changes, THEN you get to make sure your books are available in the UK. They have also made the 70% royalty option available too. All but one of mine was eligable for the 70% royalty, so that was an easy choice.  One book, Suki V: The Collection, was priced above the range for 70%, so I dropped it from $15.69 to $9.69, resulting in a higher royalty for me and better value for my new readers.

I took the option of letting Amazon convert the US price to GBP, as I saw no need to price it differently in the UK.

Now I am waiting for Amazon to do its thing for the next "2 to 3 days" and hopefully everything will be available.

Suki With A Twist: Suki's Street cover picture

I have a picture to begin cover collaboration with Fiona for Suki With A Twist: Suki's Street

The plan is to have the buildings on the left extend to the top of the frame. I made sure all of the traffic lights were red, sort of key to the profession Suki is still in during this book. Thinking of using a neon light font for the text. Trying to decide where to put the Suki brand image. Might be embossed on a building or in the sky.

Spotted in this Slashdot story:

Sorry, Shoppers, but Why Can’t Amazon Collect More Tax?

Amazon has found a way to put portions of its business into the tax-haven equivalent of reservations. By creating wholly owned subsidiaries for the parts that are treated separately for tax matters, Amazon is under no obligation to collect sales tax. This legal technique is called “entity isolation,” said Michael Mazerov, a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington.

They are following the complicated laws in an efficient manner, with the help of some very expensive lawyers. What's the problem?
