"Ecuador appears to be modifying its offer of unconditional residency to the embattled founder of the online whistle-blower WikiLeaks.

Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said in a TV interview Tuesday that the possibility 'will have to be studied from the legal and diplomatic perspective.'"

Althouse: A case of the Vapors over calling Julian Assange a Sissy

Julian Assange — "He's a sissy; he's a waif, purely and simply an Internet creation."
That's how Rush Limbaugh talked about Julian Assange on his show yesterday. What I'm interested in here is not Assange per se or what Limbaugh thinks of him. I'm interested in the gratuitous disparagement of men whose looks and personal style fail to track the masculine stereotype:

Read it all on her blog. The thing is, Assange is a total pansy and the stupid shit he pulls on the internet only supports that. Things like editing video from US Army attack helicopters to make it appear as if the pilots committed atrocities. When Limbaugh talked about Althouse's post on the air, he pointed out that he never called G. Gordon Liddy a sissy and mentioned some others.

Ann Althouse has a history of being overly sensitive. A few years ago, the 'bruits' at Reason magazine (if you question the sarcastic quotes, go to one of their parties and see for yourself) brought her to tears, imposing on herself a level of public torture rarely seen outside of a Kubrick film. The issue? Apparently what so offended Althouse is that anyone could possibly believe that a private business owner should be permitted to privately discriminate on the basis of race. Her response here.

On the subject of WikiLeaks, Limbaugh mentioned this story from The Register: WikiLeaks re-taunts feds with US Amazon mirrors

According to NetCraft's records, the whistle-blowing website is mirroring the diplomatic cables on Amazon's US-based EC2 service and France-based servers operated by French ISP Octopuce. The main WikiLeaks site is mirrored on Ireland-based Amazon servers.

WikiLeaks also uses a US-based domain name registrar (Dynadot) and a US-based DNS service (EveryDNS).

Rush observed, as I have, that if this wuss has all of his classified documents hosted and mirrored by Amazon, the government could take the domain away with a few keystrokes. Rush said it better, "if only WikiLeaks had pirated songs, Obama would shut them down overnight" (not an exact quote). That is the truth too. If this administration gave one hoot about classified military information, Assange would already be behind bars or worse.

The Obama regime only sounded alarmed after State Department memos were released by WikiLeaks, with the 'monumental, damaging revelation' that US diplomats were "spying" on their UN counterparts. Don't believe me? Electron-slinging, Leftist leader, David Corn wants Hillary Clinton to resign over this issue. Foror failing to protect national secrets,? Nope. For spying on UN diplomats. The extent of the "spying" so far appears to be observing what they do. Not even sexy enough to get into one of my novels!

The non-sequitur just around the corner for the wagon circlers will be: "If dress codes can be imposed in the workplace, why not eating codes? It is for the good of all!" 'Butt out' never occurs to some people.

Middle East Aligned in a Coalition Like in Suki IV: Finally a Vacation

Thanks, WikiLeaks for the 'news' that the Middle East wants Iran bombed out of the nuclear club. The 'revelation' here is that Israel is the only country that wants to do it themselves. The list of our Middle East allies who want the good ol' USA to do it is growing:

Not an all inclusive list, I am sure. Just the top players that I could find stories about. Now, what of that whole business that "the Jews" (meaning Israel proper and anybody Jewish, by people using it as an invective)? Israel is the only damn country in the area that wants to take care of this themselves and the only country in the world that the USA is preventing from de-nuking Iran.

I denounce Wikileaks and that little traitor Private that leaked this stuff. However, I must say, the only people this stuff seems to be embarrassing is a bunch of worthless seat-warmers in Foggy Bottom, at the Department of State. Apparently, nobody over there knows that you do not put anything in a memo that will be embarrassing on the front page of a newspaper.

Liberaltarian Matt Welch, at Reason, was brought to a state of glee for completely different reasons. He just likes seeing Arabs embarrassed. Welch does give a nod to the effect of this release on authoritarian states lying to their masses. As if this will awaken them more. Most of the folks I met from those countries mention their leaders lying without prompting.

Curious how WikiLeaks never 'finds' any documents from the troublemakers in the 'religion of peace' (I am assured, the bad ones are in the minority) to "open the minds and eyes" of the jihadis?

Rush Limbaugh stated that the leaked documents contain nothing about North Korea supplying Iran with nuclear technology, missiles, etc. Guess he missed #3 in this story.

In Suki IV: Finally A Vacation (War With Iran) I speculate that in the 2030s the whole world has dragged their feet about the Iranian problem. Just like today. Different nations urged the US to form a coalition with them (yes, I showed our allies in a nicer light than their behavior currently reveals). The budding alliances came and went, while only one country continued to plan how to deal with Iran.

Finally, Iran's target list was discovered for rocket and ship-borne nuclear weapons. To their lackadaisical surprise, European, Asian and African targets were on the list for missiles, the Americas were slated for nukes on freighters.

The world allied with Israel and Israel led the way, as the freighters were on the way to their targets. No nukes were used by the allies.

Newsflash: Saudi Arabia funds al Qaeda

Actually, this is a newsflash to me. I was one of those people who thought that the Saudis, the ones who run the official stuff anyway, despised al Qaeda too and wanted to be rid of them. No, they are the biggest funder of al Qaeda. What? That wasn't in the latest WikiLeaks classified document dump? Actually, it was an announcement by the Bush administration in 2008. Jihad Watch had the story in 2004. The only reason I looked it up today is because Rush Limbaugh said, near the top of his show today, that this 'news' was in the Wikidump. I couldn't find an article about it, found the two linked to above instead.

I don't think being armed with this information will help when I am pestered by people who insist that it is "the Jews." Stock answer from them: "You can't believe our government, the Jews run that too, just like the press."

"Federal authorities, capping a three-year investigation, are preparing insider-trading charges that could ensnare consultants, investment bankers, hedge-fund and mutual-fund traders and analysts across the nation, according to people familiar with the matter.

The criminal and civil probes, which authorities say could eclipse the impact on the financial industry of any previous such investigation, are examining whether multiple insider-trading rings reaped illegal profits totaling tens of millions of dollars, the people say. Some charges could be brought before year-end, they say.

The investigations, if they bear fruit, have the potential to expose a culture of pervasive insider trading in U.S. financial markets, including new ways non-public information is passed to traders through experts tied to specific industries or companies, federal authorities say.

Since banking is involved, the sexy banker in Boston story must be related somehow.

One focus of the criminal investigation is examining whether nonpublic information was passed along by independent analysts and consultants who work for companies that provide 'expert network' services to hedge funds and mutual funds. These companies set up meetings and calls with current and former managers from hundreds of companies for traders seeking an investing edge."

You would think that after all that has happened recently, these guys would figure out how to behave. At least they could learn how to behave in the highly regulated environment where they choose to work. Without looking at the additional information I can guess that many of the acts that resulted in charges were things no reasonable person would consider "insider trading." I can also guess that enough of it was true, illegal insider trading.

In general, I still view the US government's enactment and enforcement of 'insider trading' as a sham. Doing thorough research should not be punished. Neither should cutting beneficial deals with your fellow business people.

Terrorists like KSM are sometimes known to dress as women.

The Show Trial of Khalid Sheik Mohammed will not be televised. It will not even be happening soon. After Eric Holder, famous defender of terrorists and now the US Attorney General, insisted on having a show trial for KSM in Manhattan it is now being delayed indefinitely.

"The administration has concluded that it cannot put Mohammed on trial in federal court because of the opposition of lawmakers in Congress and in New York. There is also little internal support for resurrecting a military prosecution at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The latter option would alienate liberal supporters.

The administration asserts that it can hold Mohammed and other al-Qaeda operatives under the laws of war, a principle that has been upheld by the courts when Guantanamo Bay detainees have challenged their detention."

Why even go through the show of saying you are going to have a trial, then saying even if found not guilty KSM can still be held in jail. In this story I am amazed again. This time with this administration admitting that their approach to this terrorist is entirely political. That has been their and the Clinton administration approach to terrorism the whole time.
