Rep. Ron Paul vs. Pussy Galore: Is Fort Knox Empty?

More Pre-Carter years nostalgia, the photo-op audit of the 1974 Gold Vault at Fort Knox, KY is making a comeback. Ron Paul suggested this in 1980 also, just six years after the big show. Treasury is not going to run out and embarrass a sitting Congressman with their latest assays and audits of their holdings. We will probably have to wait for the rerun of this circus and endure the doubters complaining that it was faked.

"There's gold in them thar hills. Or is there?

Texas Rep. Ron Paul, suggesting America's reserves may not be as robust as officials claim, is calling for an independent audit of the U.S. gold held at Fort Knox and other facilities.

The Republican congressman known for his fierce opposition to virtually everything the Federal Reserve does says the public deserves to know what's behind the fortified walls of America's gold vaults -- particularly in case gold is ever reintroduced as a basis for U.S. currency.

'It'd be nice for the American people to know whether or not the gold is there,' Paul told Fox Business Network. And if it is all there, he said, the public should know whether any of it has been obligated."

The Second 24 Hours at Daytona this Month

Today, 14 February, 2009, green flag time was at 1:19 PM, the race finally ended in a Jamie McMurray victory just over six hours later (three hours fifty-two minutes and four seconds of race time). The race lasted longer than expected due to two red-flag stops for a pothole repair, the first lasting over one hour-forty. The second was forty-six minutes.

During the first pothole delay Dale Jr. quipped that they should just put a cone in front of it and finish the race. Carl Edwards had a similar comment during the second delay.

This is McMurray’s third career victory and first since the Talladega fall race in 2009, first in the Bass Pro sponsored car.

Global Warming Slows DC Murder Rate

Washington DC paralysed by snow for fifth working day in a row

Hidden at the end:
On a more positive note, police in the US capital, which has a high murder rate, have not recorded a single fatal attack over the last week.

WMAL radio reported that the last DC homicide was February 3rd, 2010.
