Okay, I got a little autobiographical in Suki IV

Where to begin with Suki IV.

Early in the book, two Generals are out with John, Suki and their charter flight crew for lunch at Fort Hood Texas.  The Generals tell Suki about John getting picked up by a Cosmotologist in Waco, back when they were all Lieutenants.  The same thing happened to John's dad, Josef, when he was a Lieutenant.  I pretty much described what happened to me when I was there once.

I did love the steaks at that Officer's Club too.

There was a very attractive Asian bartender at the Eglin Beach Officer's Club, who adored my son and the staff flocked around him when the then wife and I brought him there.  I did chase him into the Gulf of Mexico in January of February, when he was very young.
The car I am restoring is going to be green and I plan to set it up like I describe John's car near the end of the book.

I am sure there are other things that I will add to this post as I notice them.

This is becoming a frustrating weekend.

Good Morning from Starbucks

Okay, I am getting my stuff together today and posting the final version of Suki IV: Finally A Vacation (War With Iran) ISBN: 9780982468630 today.  Kindle price will be $10.69, so maybe they will have it available quicker and let it show up more.  Just a theory.  Read something on Slashdot recently where this business about the Kindle Operations team review slows down books that are under $9.99.  Must be something else, because I raised the price on Suki I and Suki III and they both went into a five day review.  Anyway, PDF will still be $6.69.

Inspirational t-shirt for the day is the IDF chick one.

Suki in the News

Suki in the news again! Not me, not John's character, just an odd story.

Body hair fetish shop forced to raise arms in surrender

October 1, 2009

Back in 1986, a cute, saucy, 21-year-old university co-ed from Kagoshima named Kaoru Kuroki began appearing in AV productions to make some money for a trip to Italy.
Kuroki starred in a movie titled “SM’ppoi no Suki,” (loosely translated as “Some like it SM style”) and created an immediate stir not only for her personality and acting skills, but for the abundant black bush that blossomed beneath her upper limbs, which she eagerly exposed at every opportunity.
Ms. Kuroki’s popularity soon inspired the operator of a sex shop in Shibuya to open Japan’s first Wakige Kurabu (armpit hair club).

C*A*M*M*O for the Veterans

http://www.cammomusic.org/, check it out and donate.  From their website:

The Beginning
Sean Gilfillan, the co-founder and CEO of To The Fallen Records, the world's only military record label, envisions the creation of a military music community that will focus the world on America's most musically talented service members. Military Music Artists are not receiving the Artist Development needed to succeed in the industry. Veterans interested in pursuing music industry careers in production, recording, managing, etc. are typically not given the opportunity to train and learn in these professions either. He immediately set out to make this a possibility by creating The Center for American Military Music Opportunities, better known as C*A*M*M*O. However, in order to take on a project of this magnitude, Sean had to bring in some expertise.

In the realm of Artist Development, there was no other choice but to bring in Victor Hurtado, a man that had been developing military music artists for the past 20 years and a close personal friend. As a producer/director of the US Army Soldier Show, Hollywood Military Consultant, and expert in all things Artist Development, Victor was the perfect fit to become Chief of Operations for C*A*M*M*O.

Meanwhile, Sean and Victor knew they had to bring in someone who had extensive experience in Veterans issues and Military Non-Profits. Enter Cathie Lechareas. Cathie has been serving the Veteran community for over 30 years after she herself left the military. By being a regular on Captol Hill, heavily involved with Veteran Affairs and within the military community, Cathie was the final piece of the puzzle needed prior to launching a non-profit with this type of high-profile mission and cause.

Now, C*A*M*M*O has set out to raise over $20 million dollars to open its first "Center" in Nashville, Tennessee. Already major sponsors are jumping on board to help, whether they are defense contractors, corporations, music industry professionals or just patriotic individuals who think the cause worthy of their attention, C*A*M*M*O is ready to Rock & Roll.

I have arrived some more!

At Long Last, finally decided why the world attacks Iran and have it in the book

Earlier this week I finally decided how the world finally came around to doing something about Iran in the early 2030s. I wrote it into General Sasha Klein's lines as she talks to John's son, Tag, the USA JAG liaison to an IDF Commando unit that has already infiltrated Iran.

The issue centers around Iran's alternate target list for their ICBMs, with side issues of Israel and Gaza lving in peace and becoming major trading partners (in the future, national trading partners are measured by transactions between individuals across political borders). There is also an issue with Iran needing to hit targets outside of their missile capabilities and they have already launched their alternate delivery system.

Note: These details are NOT in the pre-release draft that is available now.  They will only be available in the final publication.

Missing channel pirate ship carried Russian arms for Iran

The Arctic Sea mysteriously disappeared off the coast of France on 1 August 2009
The Arctic Sea mysteriously disappeared off the coast of France on 1 August 2009

A CARGO ship that vanished in the Channel was carrying arms to Iran and was being tracked by Mossad, the Israeli security service, according to sources in both Russia and Israel.
The Arctic Sea, officially carrying a cargo of timber worth £1.3m, disappeared en route from Finland to Algeria on July 24. It was recovered off west Africa on August 17 when eight alleged hijackers were arrested. The Kremlin has consistently denied that the vessel was carrying a secret cargo. It claims the ship was hijacked by criminals who demanded a £1m ransom.
The official version was challenged by sources in Tel Aviv and Moscow who claimed the ship had been loaded with S-300 missiles, Russia’s most advanced anti-aircraft weapon, while undergoing repairs in the Russian port of Kaliningrad.

Gogs

John's "gog" idea from his books is now patented by Apple (hat tip to Gawker):

STEVE JOBS

Apple Granted Patent on iGlasses

Apple today received a patent on a head-mounted laser video display. Now that the three-year old application has finally been approved, Steve Jobs can put these babies through his grueling design process and hopefully pretty them up a bit.
Apple's innovation over previous head mounted displays is, in part, to separate the laser engine from the headgear, stowing the engine in a separate unit connected to the frames via fiber optic cable. Such an "iGlasses" setup, as our tipster calls it, would allow a more immersive television, gaming or conferencing experience when using, say, an iPhone. Or you could just walk around pretending to be a commando from the future, with frickin' laser breams attached to your head.
It's not clear whether Jobs will ever turn this officially-designated innovation into a product; his company boasts an impressive cash hoard with which it funds more research than it can use. Many of the patents from Apple's seemingly endless stream are never heard from again. The obsessive CEO remains, by all accounts, infatuated with his forthcoming tablet product at the moment, so we're not counting on being able to buy iGlasses anytime soon. But simply by putting the patent into the trophy case, Apple adds a little something to its mystique among its growing base of fans, the press included.
The first page of the patent is below, along with one drawing; we've archived the full filing here. AppleInsider summarized the application back in April.
