Serbian immigrant, software consultant, and naturalized US citizen, George Djura Jakubec in California goes into the explosive hardware business, government shuts it down.

San Diego County authorities confirmed Thursday they have found pentaerythritol tetranitrate, or PETN, a favorite of al Qaeda bomb-makers that is now the target of new U.S. airport body scans and pat downs.

They also found more hexamethylene triperoxide diamine, or HMTD, in a bottle inside the house, but the two types of homemade explosives were not immediately removed because they are too volatile and the house is too cluttered to negotiate safely, Assistant Sheriff Ed Prendergast said.

Authorities had already recovered 8 or 9 pounds of HMTD, an explosive powder that suicide bombers use, authorities said.

The search of the house also turned up items “suggestive of armed robberies,” Prendergast said in a written statement.

Under pen name "Ibn al-Mubarak," he wrote an article in 2009 for the inaugural issue of Jihad Recollections about how to shape up for violent Jihad: "Getting in Shape Without Weights." In it, he blasts "un-Islamic" gyms with "music, semi-naked women, free mixing and the danger of showing off." 

Mohamud was also a rapper in a former life. According to the FBI's affadavit, Mohamud considered launching a Mumbai-style attack using small arms: "He said that because he had been a rapper, he could obtain a pistol or AK-47." We were unable to determine Mohamud's Jihadi emcee name, or the potency of his flow.

Portland police have refused to cooperate with FBI in joint terrorism investigations since 2005.

Terrorist Act Last Friday

Federal authorities say a Nigerian passenger on an Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight tried to blow up the airliner, which landed safely. The would-be bomber is injured.

Too bad the jerk is not dead.  Maybe he was just 'stressed out' like that Army Major at Fort Hood last month?

Plane incident called an act of terrorism

The suspected would-be bomber suffered burns as the result of his attempt, and two of the other 277 passengers reported minor injuries, authorities said. FBI agents were investigating the incident, which a White House official said was believed to be terrorism.

"He was trying to ignite some kind of incendiary device," said a federal anti-terrorism official, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case. "He lit himself on fire and he's suffered some burns."

Maybe it was all the pressure of a failed Jihad?  Could have just had a bad day.  Yea, right.

President Obama was briefed on the Christmas Day incident during his Hawaii vacation and was receiving regular updates.

Oh, thank GOD we are safe now!  Briefing to Hamas, just to be fair, to follow.


Update 12/27/09: He had PETN hidden in his underwear.
