Pentagon Struck by Gunfire (19 October 2010)
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Pentagon officials say that gunfire hit the Pentagon Tuesday morning and are investigating parts of adjacent I-395 that face the south entrance. An 11:30am press briefing is scheduled with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency.
At 4:55 am the Pentagon received reports of "shots fired" and closed off access to the entire building. Officials conducted two sweeps of the area, according to Col. David Lapan, Pentagon spokesman. The building was reopened at 5:40am.
Some news outlets report that two shots hit the building.  One on the third floor and one on the fifth.

US Marine Corps Museum Hit by Gunfire (18 October 2010)
Investigators are looking for the person or people who opened fire on the United States Marine Corps Heritage Museum over the weekend, causing $20,000 in damage.
No one was hurt. The museum was empty at the time.
The museum, shaped to evoke the famous flag-raising on Mount Suribachi at Iwo Jima, was struck by several bullets, which penetrated upper-floor windows. Investigators counted five bullet holes in the glass.
The museum is located off I-95, situated on a 135-acre site adjacent to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, and under the command of Marine Corps University.

Palestinian-American, Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan's Article 32 Investigation Continues.  Followup to earlier story about the devout follower of New Mexico's very own Anwar Al-Awlaki.

The Christian Science Monitor piece gives some insight into the politically correct environment that lead to the destruction of some video evidence of Hasan's terrorist acts:
But even as the trial may be short on Hasan's reasoning, two video accounts of the massacre that may have shown Hasan's demeanor during the shooting will not be seen and judged by the jury or the American public. One soldier testified Friday that a non-commissioned officer ordered him to erase two cellphone videos of the attack. While a "mystifying" and possibly illegal request, says Rosen, he hypothesized that it could have been intended to protect the privacy of Hasan's victims.
But some critics saw the order as evidence that the government, including the Army, is more concerned about protecting Muslims from backlash from angry Americans than revealing the truth behind how modern jihadi terrorism works. They point to the lack of words like "jihad" or "Muslim" in the Pentagon's official report on the Fort Hood massacre as proof that what they see as watered-down assumptions and hedged judgments about the Islamic threat to the US are hurting, not helping, national security.
"This rush to remove from our enemy's actions any suggestion of a possible Islamic religious motive reflects this administration's unwillingness to name our Islamist adversaries," writes a blogger at PipeLineNews, a consortium of conservative investigative journalists. "This is a critically serious threat to national security in that it places blinders on a defense establishment whose job it is to prevent further attacks."
Still, it is a good thing that MAJ Hasan is being tried in a military court, rather than in a New Mexico, San Francisco or Manhattan criminal court.

Update to Brick Throwing Muslim Metal Head at DC9

Update to part of this:

Five from D.C. club charged with assault on man who died
By Michael Birnbaum and Paul Duggan
Sunday, October 17, 2010

Five men were charged with aggravated assault Saturday in the beating of Ali Ahmed Mohammed in front of a club at Ninth and U streets NW where the men worked.
Mohammed died early Friday at a hospital.
All five men were released after a court proceeding Saturday and were placed in a high-intensity supervision program, which includes electronic monitoring.
About 60 supporters of the men went to the hearing at D.C. Superior Court, cramming the courtroom and filling the hallway outside. Attorneys for two of the men said they were innocent and criticized D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier for calling the incident a "savage" case of "vigilante justice" Friday.
Mohammed, 27, tried to enter DC9 early Friday but was turned away at the door. He became angry and threw at least one brick through the nightclub's front window, witnesses told investigators.
Aggravated assault, after this guy threw bricks through the window of a crowded nightclub.  As if Chief Lanier would have even doen the slightest thing to this guy if he had gotten away.

Washington, DC: Featured City in 'Inspire' Magazine, followed by Bar Attack

Washington, DC is again in the spotlight as a "must hit" destination in yet another publication, Inspire, the glossy face of the Al Qaeda network.  The fall edition also features 'inspirational' words from US Army Major Malik Nadal Hasan's personal imam, New Mexico's very own Anwar al-Awlaki.

Terror threat to restaurants as Al Qaeda calls for attacks on government workers in D.C.:
"WASHINGTON - The terror group tied to the Ft. Hood killings and the Christmas Day undies airbomber urge wannabe American jihadis to open fire on crowded restaurants in the nation's capital to massacre U.S. government workers.

The advice appears in 'Inspire,' the latest issue of a slick propaganda publication by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Osama Bin Laden's franchise in Yemen.

'A random hit at a crowded restaurant in Washington, D.C., at lunch hour might end up knocking out a few government employees,' Yahya Ibrahim writes in the 74-page jihadi how-to magazine.

'Targeting such employees is paramount and the location would also give the operation additional media attention,' Ibrahim added."

Following the fanfare of the Islamic answer to Mother Jones, Tap and the Anarchist's Cookbook, all rolled into one, Ali Ahmed Mohammed decided to make some news of his own by throwing a brick through the window of DC9, a nightclub in Northwest Washington, DC after being denied entry when a concert was ending.

Nightclub owner, 4 others charged in beating

WASHINGTON (AP) — A nightclub owner and four employees have been charged with beating a man to death after he threw a brick through the club's window, in a case of what D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier called "vigilante justice."

Ali Ahmed Mohammed, 27, of Silver Spring, Md., was denied entry to the DC9 nightclub along the U Street corridor around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Lanier said, but he returned to throw a brick through the window.

That's when the club owner and four employees chased Mohammed down the block, then tackled and beat him, police said. When officers arrived, all five men were still on the scene and Mohammed was in critical condition, Lanier said. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
*****
DC9 manager KT Robeson told TBD that he saw the men chase Mohammed and subdue him, but not in a violent way.
"Who beats someone up and then calls the cops?" Robeson asked. "That's ridiculous."
Other representatives of the club declined further comment.
NBC affiliate coverage broadcast a relative of the 27 year old Silver Spring, Maryland man asking why someone his age had to die.  I will ask, why does someone his age throw bricks through windows of nightclubs?  He was reported to be a Howard University student.  No major media source has made a connection between Inspire magazine and Ali Ahmed Mohammed, nor have they mentioned his religious leanings.

The DC Chief of Police called the incident "vigilante justice".
