Ryanair's CEO Suggests Eliminating Co-Pilots

Slashdot News Story | Ryanair's CEO Suggests Eliminating Co-Pilots:
"Ryanair's miser-in-chief Michael O'Leary now suggests eliminating co-pilots as a way to save money. Will airliners be powered by drones, or is it actually viable to have just a single pilot on passenger planes?"

Cross-posting to Suki's Street. In Suki II: Sunshine Returns, pilotless commercial aircrafr, cargo only, are mentioned. In Suki III: Never Let Us End, John reveals that he worked on an Army project that advanced the concept to reality (TEC: The Effortless Cockpit). In Suki IV: Finally A Vacation (War With Iran), the couple watches pilotless aircraft and driverless trucks moving supplies for a looming war. In Suki With A Twist: Part One, the couple rides in a pilotless, retrofitted Cessna Citation from Reagan National Airport to San Francisco during one of their earlier dates.

WikiLeaks Calls For Assange To Step Down

Slashdot News Story | WikiLeaks Calls For Assange To Step Down

"A member of Iceland's parliament and prominent organizer for whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks has turned on the site's spokesman, Julian Assange, urging him to step down over rape allegations made against him in Sweden. Birgitta Jonsdottir told news site The Daily Beast that she did not believe Assange's repeated assertion that the allegations of rape and molestation made against him were part of a US-backed smear campaign to distract attention from documents posted on the site laying bare US involvement in the war in Afghanistan and further promised revelations."

Not the best video, due to me being a little slow on the draw with the camera.

I was in fairly tight quarters, between two parked cars, in the middle of the block, with perfectly good crossings just yards away to either side of me.

These three guys decided they had to squeeze between me and the cars to cross in the middle of the block. No, not one car away either direction, they walked up the sidewalk to where I was to jaywalk!

Craigslist Adult Services Section Shut Down - PCWorld

Craigslist Adult Services Section Shut Down - PCWorld

Craigslist shutdown its adult services listings on Friday replacing the link with a black bar with the word "censored" where the listings previously appeared.

The move comes after years of pressure to remove the ads, including an open letter from 17 state attorneys general in late August. The letter said "sharp public criticism of craigslist's Adult Services section reflects a growing recognition that ads for prostitution -- including ads trafficking children -- are rampant on it." The attorneys general requested Craigslist take immediate action to stop accepting ads since it "cannot, or will not" screen them.
The letter wasn't Craigslist's first scuffle regarding sex-related ads. The site formerly had an "Erotic Services" section that was shut down in May 2009. It was pulled after law enforcement filed suit, claiming the classifieds facilitated prostitution, and after the alleged "Craigslist Killer" was arrested.

In the article, the last paragraph is predictive. Those ads will be everywhere now, instead of corralled into their own category. Also note, an Illinois judge already held intermediaries harmless in these cases.

I made comments about Craigslist's plight, and Reason's coverage of it, in May 2009. Includes a link to Nina Hartley erotica.
