Pakistanis protest against Raymond Davis' release

Pakistanis protest against Davis' release - The Times of India:
"ISLAMABAD: Street protests erupted in Pakistan for a second day on Thursday against the release of American Raymond Davis, whose arrest after he shot dead two Pakistani men in January triggered a major diplomatic row between the two countries.More details of the protests in the article. Here is what all the flap is about:
Lawyers and some political groups took to the streets against the release of Davis, who has been described as a contractor for the American CIA, BBC reported. Small protests took place in Karachi and Lahore, it said.
Davis, 36, shot dead two Pakistanis on a motorcycle in Lahore Jan 27 after alleging they tried to rob him. He claimed he acted in self-defence.The US Department of State claims that "no compensation was paid," however they have not categorically denied any payment at all.
A third man was also killed when a speeding car tried to come to Davis' help.
The man (Davis) was sent to jail despite initial American claims that Davis was a diplomat and deserved diplomatic immunity.
The Dawn News said that Davis was released following a deal between the CIA and Pakistan's spy agency ISI.
A petition was meanwhile filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the release Wednesday after $2.3 million was reportedly paid to the kin of the two men he shot dead in January."

"Julian Assange has requested a new lawyer to represent him during a rape investigation in Sweden because his previous brief, Leif Silbersky, was not engaged enough with the case. The article goes on to say that Assange denies that he said the CIA was behind these accusations. Which is something I never read a quote of either. What he did do was repeat that WikiLeaks was warned that the Pentagon would try dirty tricks. He would repeat that every time the rape and molestation charges were mentioned.
Assange wants Bjorn Hurtig to represent him as authorities continue to investigate the allegations, according to AP."

Sorry, conspiracy gang, it is not a Pentagon setup. It is a disagreement between individuals on the fringe.
If you want to see some serious tinfoil-hat action, peek at #WikiLeaks or #Assange on Twitter.Com.
I can't think of a single thing this ties into in any current Suki series story line and I don't plan anything like this either.

The Boring Truth About Those Julian Assange Smears - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine
. . . for the wild-eyed, spittle-flecked conspiracists bloggers—and Assange himself—the charges reeked of a U.S. government plot. And sure, one only need to read the Church Commission report to realize that such dirty tricks have a long pedigree in American intelligence circles. But even a cursory look at the case would suggest that while it appears that Assange’s name is being dragged through the mud, it isn’t by the CIA.
. . . Assuming that Assange knew the identity of his accusers when contacted by prosecutors, he nevertheless told any reporter within earshot that “we have been warned that the Pentagon, for example, is thinking of deploying dirty tricks to ruin us. And I have also been warned about sex traps.” After expressing skepticism that it was an American intelligence job, Harpers magazine nevertheless warned that “as this incident makes clear, the war on WikiLeaks will be fought with unconventional tools and those following the story are advised to accept nothing at face value.”
Amazingly, the bumbling fools in American intelligence managed to flip Anna Ardin, the left-wing feminist (often described in the Swedish blogosphere as a “radical feminist”) spokeswoman for Broderskapsrörelsen, the liberation theology-like Christian organization affiliated with Sweden’s Social Democratic Party (she is not, as I have seen written, a “Christian Democrat”). If any of these subliterate bloggers knew anything about the kristen vänster (but why should you know anything at all, when a simple, ideology-validating conspiracy is so much more satisfying?), they would probably have guessed that Assange's accuser was, as is common in Sweden, operating off of a very broad definition of rape and “sexual molestation.”
. . . Expressen is not a tabloid-style newspaper, but an actual tabloid. Nor is it, as Assange claimed, "right wing." So who would have leaked this information to Expressen? A bit of legwork here too would have revealed that Ardin interned for the editorial page of GT, the Gothenburg edition of Expressen. While there is no evidence to suggest that Ardin herself leaked the material to her former employer, it is certainly more plausible than fingering the Pentagon. But again, why bother doing any research when the sinister conspiracy is more ideologically satisfying?
Moynihan concludes with a well-advised caution about using Google Translate when passing on reports from foreign language news sources.
If you, like many of the conspiracists, are confused as to how the Swedish authorities could issue and then, in less than 24 hours, withdraw a warrant for Assange’s arrest, then you don’t know the Swedish authorities. Just ask the families of Anna Lindh and Olaf Palme for details. Indeed, when one prosecutor overruled the conclusions of another, more junior, prosecutor, she explained to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter that “My decision doesn’t mean that her decision was wrong.” And to Aftonbladet, she dug in her heels: “That I changed the decision doesn’t mean that her decision was wrong.” Translation? Amateur hour at the prosecutors office.
Sorry, conspiracy gang, it is not a Pentagon setup. It is a disagreement between individuals on the fringe.

WikiLeaks + Julian Assange and a Victim Quote = Crazy Twitters* Action
I won't assume this tweeter was drunk or something during this exchange:
(I sent this tweet) Quote from #WikiLeaks #molestation accuser "has problem with taking no for an answer" http://goo.gl/b/Opso #tcot#twisters #tlot #milA few hours later, I saw this response:
DeClack
@JohnTagliaferro Is you who gave the advice to fuck with assange? If not .Explain. Because the woman has a long picture story withe you ?
@JohnTagliaferro Is you who gave the advice to fuck with assange? If not .Explain. Because the woman has a long picture story withe you ?
Took me a while to formulate a response to the whole thing. What does "Is it you who gave the advice to fuck with assange (sic)?" even mean? How do I "explain" "If not"? What does "the woman has a long picture story with you?" mean?
So many deep questions that only a COBOL programmer and a fifth of Tequila could formulate (sorry, had to start theorizing).
In the interest of all people who have the real name John Tagliaferro and all of us who use it as a pen name, and as a service to all of those who share the same names as the fictional characters in my book, I responded with a confession:
@DeClack yes, on my command Slate ran the story quoting her so my blog partner could post it. #lol #tlot#mil
Should have been Salon, my mistake. Hope this does not mess up your Global Conspiracy Theory.
There was an earlier responder, @rixstepnews who accused the woman making the molestation complaint of being a radical or militant feminist, apparently meaning Anna Ardin, one of the rape accusers who also generated the molestation complaint. The Guardian has more on that. I blocked that account, still looking forward to more from the drunk COBOL guy and will update right here if I do.
Pretty surprised, actually. We didn't get much traffic from Twitter on this particular story. Avatar is still beating it.

FBI and CIA lighters
After several recent experiences, I decided to bust out the FBI and CIA Zippos.
I am hoping it will be "shady people insurance", seriously.
Numerous shadies, to include one who got much too close for comfort, may have just left me alone if they saw me firing up a Dunhill or Winston with an FBI Zippo.
Got both from buddies who work with those agencies, back when I lived in the Reston, VA area. The FBI one was from an FBI agent. The CIA Zippo was from a guy who was as CIA analyst, retired and still works there for SAIC.
If needed, I have both NRO and George Bush Center for Intelligence Zippos too.

CIA Lied, Pelosi Died
I was all ready to have a rant about Speaker Pelosi's forgetting about being briefed in 'torture' and waterboarding, and other stuff. But, Chris Muir knocked it out so much better than I.
As for the title, I can't wait to read someone write "CIA Lied, People Died" so I can come back and say "Isn't that the way it is supposed to work?"
Pelosi vs. Pelosi is a good piece of video.
