It covers the history of how MDMA evolved, stayed under the legeslative radar for a while, then became illegal.
In the 2030s future I write about, it is legal again. Forgot if it got much mention in Suki I, but an improved future variant is in Suki II. In Suki III, a heavily controlled version is introduced, MMA-Prima. I do try to bring out the point that making things legal does not end abuse or misuse, but when it is legal it is up to the person and what they do with it.
Sarah and Suki made some use of future drugs in their fan fiction too.
